What the 5% levy pays for
Every exchange trade in NET pays a 5% trading levy. It funds the reserve that backs each NET, and early on a decaying share goes to the team; within 30 days of launch the whole levy goes to the reserve, permanently. Wallet-to-wallet transfers are exempt. Subscribing to a bond settles off-exchange and pays no levy, which is most of why a bond beats the exchange.
